Blog or Cult?

“We are starting a new project tomorrow, so we will be in the library” Ms. Serensky explained. I immediately thought, “great, a paper so long we get class time for it”. When she began explaining the blogs though, my mind rapidly grasped the idea and started taking it in a million directions. After choosing my original and somewhat lame title and background, I spent probably a good 45 minutes at home that night messing around on Blogger. The prompts soon to follow came naturally, and the comments even further organic. The whole assignment had me realizing how I really could tie everything and anything back to English class, because that’s what Ms. Serensky has taught us to do. I found blogging to be a sort of escape from other homework, when I really had something pressing on my mind, I could type it out fast, find a picture, read it over and boom 1/15 of my midterm complete! I love gradual tasks, I hate cramming, so pushing the due date for at least one blog to Thursdays in a way forced me to have less stress, so thank you. The blog banter itself made the blogs worth it, although I only made the banter one, and for a picture, I found it exhilarating listening to the songs and trying to figure out the themes before she talked about them. I think one of the most memorable parts of the blogs however, were reading others. Whether I had already completed my comments for the week or not, if an interesting title appeared on my blog feed, I loved to click and at least glance. The genius ideas I came across really gave some of the seemingly book smart kids some depth. I too enjoyed sharing stories, some of which I have not gotten to share otherwise. Ms. Serensky noted how she disliked how abrupt class discussions ended, I agree. I feel that the thoughts from sixth period blossom into philosophies about life and people by eighth period, the blog made those thoughts meaningful. I hope we continue blogging, I thought it interesting and amusing, while still academically provoking.
